Open Graph tags checker
Open Graph tags control the title, description and image shown when your link is shared on social networks and in chat apps. Without them, a shared link often shows a blank or generic card. Paste your URL and Marlo checks which tags are missing.

What Marlo checks

How to add Open Graph tags
<meta property="og:title" content="Your page title">
<meta property="og:description" content="One sentence about the page.">
<meta property="og:image" content="https://example.com/share.png">
<meta property="og:url" content="https://example.com/">- Add the tags inside the <head> of the page.
- Use an absolute https URL for og:image. An image around 1200 by 630 pixels is a common choice.
- Check the result by pasting the link into the app where you will share it.
How common is it?
In Marlo's own audits of 365 homepages (as of 26 October 2026), "Missing Open Graph tags" was found on 67 sites, 27% of the 251 sites with two or more findings. That group is filtered and the sites came from a few directories, so treat it as a snapshot, not a base rate for the web. See the full numbers.
Questions
Is Open Graph only for Facebook?
No. LinkedIn, Slack, Discord, WhatsApp and many other apps read the same tags to build a link preview.
Do I also need Twitter card tags?
X can fall back to Open Graph tags, but adding twitter:card makes the large-image card explicit.
How do I validate my Open Graph meta tags?
Paste your page address above. Marlo lists which of og:title, og:description, og:image, og:url and og:type are present and which are missing.
Is there an Open Graph tag tester for the full preview?
Marlo checks that the tags exist and are filled in. To see the exact card, paste the link into the app where you will share it, such as LinkedIn, Slack or Discord.
